Powerhouse Theatre Company was set up in 2007 by writer director Geoff Lawson. With over thirty years' professional experience working in theatre, television and film as actor, director, producer and writer, a long held ambition to establish a company producing high quality work across a wide age range was finally realised.
We aim to appeal to a wide audience with the emphasis being on young people and also keen to reach audiences who have little or no experience of theatre. Our mission is to keep the work accessible, relevant and inclusive, using theatre as a stimulus to learning and giving our audience an experience which will hopefully serve to make them want to come back for more.
We are also keen that Powerhouse becomes a resource for groups and organisations to ‘plug into’ whereby our skills can be utilised for workshops, training, teaching etcetera.
We are continuing to forge links with teachers, drama therapists, theatre practitioners and musicians which helps us further develop our work and we remain positive that our openness will help in encouraging more participation in our projects.
We aim to work to a high standard and endeavour to employ actors, designers, stage managers and technical crew who are like minded to ourselves, being passionate, committed and creative in their work.
